I am not a professional artist, I work full time as a zoo keeper which is where most of my inspiration and reference material comes from.

I specialise in primates (particularly gorillas) in both my art and my work, and most of the animals depicted are individuals I have known and worked with.

However hard I try to be a 'proper artist' and plan out backgrounds and complete paintings, I usually end up making portraits instead. Fortunately I think this is a good way of seeing primates - as individual personalities rather than just wildlife subjects

The photo above is vastly out of date and quite unflattering, but I have a lemur on my head so it stays :)
